Regime shifts

Global drivers behind regime shifts

Centre PhD student Juan Carlos Rocha explains

Regime shifts are large reconfigurations of system’s structure like the shift from forest to savannas or the collapse of fisheries. They are policy relevant phenomena because they affect the flow of ecosystem services that we as society rely on, such as the production of food or regulation of climate. However, most of regime shifts studies focus on particular cases or ecosystems.

In this whiteboard seminar, Juan Carlos Rocha provides an introduction to the global drivers behind potential ecological regime shifts.
