Crimella has primarily a support function at SwedBio, assisting with administration, and supporting the team transversally in the different focal areas of work. He also more directly acts as project officer for some of the contributions related to livelihoods, food and health, within the SwedBio collaborative programme. He also assists with digital communications as necessary.
Daniele is also increasingly engaged in international processes related to sustainable food systems and agriculture, such as the Committee on World Food Security or the Global Landscapes Froum. He also more widely contributes to SRC activities, with a focus on practice and policy processes.
Crimella holds an MSc in Sustainability from the Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development programme at Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University, and a BSc in Natural Sciences from Milan University. In his Master thesis he explored scenarios of future land change in Central and Eastern Africa, under the supervision of Line Gordon.
During and after his studies, Crimella participated in multiple research, practice and policy projects dealing with ecology, nature conservation, ecotourism, poverty alleviation, education, and intercultural communication. He has experience from working with organizations ranging from small NGOs to UN agencies in several countries, including Hong Kong, Italy, Kenya, UK, the Seychelles and Sweden. Fluent in English and Italian, Crimella is also an advanced Swedish and intermediate Spanish speaker.
